Varna, a modern blackletter typeface, is inspired by designer/artist Viktor Antonov and his unique style which blends classic and modern, rustic and high-tech. His art direction in popular games such as Half-Life 2 and Dishonored made him a household name in the gaming world. Viktor's Bulgarian roots gave him the idea to name the font after the city of Varna, which also happens to mean “crow” in Lithuanian. This connection makes the font even more fitting for a blackletter typeface. Varna is a perfect example of Viktor's imagination, representing his idea of a futuristic blackletter.

A modern blackletter typeface inspired by designer/artist Viktor Antonov, who's signature style is an amalgamation of classic and modern, rustic and high-tech. He's most famous for his art direction in games like Half-Life 2 and Dishonored. I tried to imagine what would "futuristic blackletter" in one of his worlds would look like.

Viktor is from Bulgaria and one of its cities is Varna. By coincidence, the word in Lithuanian also means "crow". I find it fitting for a blackletter.
