Aušrinė, a display typeface inspired by Lithuanian folklore, boasts a cosmic appearance that blends circles, sun, and stars. Rather than focusing on functionality, the font's design prioritizes aesthetics. Aušrinė, meaning "morning star," is a deity of the dawn in Lithuanian mythology who ascends and descends above the horizon. According to tradition, she engaged in an extramarital affair with the moon god Mėnuo. The font's letterforms are minimalistic, boxy, mechanical, and difficult to read, evoking a sense of otherworldliness that aligns with its folkloric roots. The numerals also incorporate circular, sun-like forms. Typing all the numbers in a row creates a beautiful comet effect on the screen. Aušrinė takes pride in its Lithuanian heritage and serves as a nod to the country's rich cultural history.
With its bold, unapologetic forms, Aušrinė feels like an ideal font for uses such as headlines or even logotypes.
