TT Frantz is a unique experimental variable font that stands out for its slender and lightweight design. Its variability is reflected in the height of the main line, which can be easily adjusted by moving the axis adjustment slider. The font incorporates elements of the art deco aesthetic, such as the lowered or heightened waist of certain letters and changes in the aperture of some letters depending on the position of the slider.
To maintain the main feature of the font, the lowercase characters are as tall as the uppercase ones, with small kerns kept intact. Interestingly, the aperture variability in Cyrillic letters з с а е follows a different pattern from their Latin counterparts.
The designers endeavoured to maintain the font's monospaced design, ensuring that changes in variability would not affect the width of the characters. Contextual alternates and several ligatures were also included to prevent gaps in the set.
TT Frantz comprises 470 glyphs, with support for both Latin and Cyrillic languages, and features standard and old-style figures, including their tubular versions, as well as ligatures.
