Thorngumbald: A Playful Sans-Serif Typeface Designed to Increase Legibility for People with Impaired Vision

Thorngumbald is a playful sans-serif typeface that was designed with the aim of reducing similarity between certain letters and increasing legibility for people with impaired vision. The typeface began as an experiment in distorting certain characters to differentiate similar-shaped letters from one another, while also exploring the Latin S character set. The final version includes a full regular weight with over 600 characters, OpenType features, contextual diacritic kerning, and many other features. Although the typeface was set aside for other projects, we have decided to give away the complete regular weight for free, so that anyone who requires a typeface with legibility features can use it and provide feedback on its success with a wider audience. You can use it and credit us, or just use it for fun. We hope that this process will help us to develop the typeface further and to meet the needs of its intended users.
