Makkabi is an interwar typeface that originally consisted of only upper case letters and was used in two Warsaw printing houses. It was primarily used in sports posters encouraging participation in football matches of the Makabi club, the Jewish Gymnastic and Sports Association. The typeface was in the form of a wooden type, but has since been digitized by Filip Tofil and published by Ania Wieluńska. It has been supplemented with a set of minuscules, numbers, and punctuation marks. Makkabi is a display typeface suited for large, short inscriptions, and should be combined with sparing, sans-serif typefaces. It has been used in the covers of books by Szczepan Twardoch, and has become a timeless classic.

Afiszuj się! (pl. Let’s show off!) is an online project devoted to interwar Polish advertising,
in the form of posters, posters, advertisements in the illustrated press, newspapers and leaflets.
On the website afiszujsie.art you can find a gallery containing the most interesting examples of
polish advertising from the beginning of 20th century, and absolutely free (for personal and commercial use)
package containing 3 typefaces and plenty of ilustrations from the era! Co-financed by the National Center for
Culture as part of the Culture on the Web program.
