Blood'n'guts is a hand-crafted font inspired by the vintage war and action comics from the 50s, with bold and dynamic lettering that evokes the thrill and excitement of those stories. The font comprises two styles: "Title" and "Regular", which can be used for headlines, captions, or text blocks.
This font is inspired by the vintage war and action comics from the 50s, with bold and dynamic lettering that evokes the thrill and excitement of those stories. The font comprises two styles: "Title" and "Regular", which can be used for headlines, captions, or text blocks. I have designed this font as a passion project, and I want to share it with you for free*.
The project started as an entry to the 2023 edition of 36 days of type, where my aim was to draw a new letter everyday with the free iOS app "Fontself".
All characters were drawn using vector strokes but completely freehand, and without using any pre-defined shapes. My aim was to keep the hand-drawn quirks as much as possible but still making it legible.
I later reworked it entirely using Adobe Illustrator and the plug-in "Fontself" to make it a usable .otf font family.
